Dave Bordewey & Dave Young
As soon as Dave Bordewey and Dave Young met they started playing together in the local folk session in and around Worcester. They knew they had an empathy and enjoyment of each others music.
Dave Young has his roots firmly in English and morris tunes but is always ready to "jam" in with any song or tune wherever it comes from. Dave Bordewey learnt his craft in pub sessions particularly in his student days in Norwich playing along side another great melodeon player, Tony Hall.
Dave Bordewey and Dave Young's debut CD 'Beer and Black Pudding' on the wild goose label features tunes written by Dave Young and they sit right at home within this essentially 'English Traditional' album.
Their new CD 'New Day' features the songs of Dave Bordewey and shows a much more diverse side to their music. Listen to the superb way the two Dave's weave their accompaniments around Dave Bordewey's vocals, knowing instinctively whats right for each track, from subtle melodies to driving rhythms with Dave Young demonstrating with consumate skill how varied the melodeon and concertina can be in the right hands. It's only via the recording studio that Dave Bordewey can sing playing the guitar and accompany himself on fiddle, mandola, percussion and backing vocals!
